In this series I will take one player from each team to add to my All 32 Bust Team for 2021.
RB Zack Moss
Last call before the Zack Moss sophomore year hype train pulls out of the station. Any Takers? F**K that you would be wise to wait and catch the next train, as it will be a more enjoyable ride. Look I get the optimism of Moss Truthers I honestly do. Moss has some juice as a runner and he does have the all-important draft capital (86th overall in 2020), but the thing that keeps him down in my eyes are the road blocks he will face on a weekly basis to be a viable fantasy option. BUT Italy, Buffalo opted not to add a notable back this off-season so this coupled with his 2020 draft capital suggests he is the “GUY” to own in this backfield. How quick we are to forget that backfield mate Devin Singletary actually has better “Draft Capital” then Moss (74th overall in 2019), so that element doesn’t mean jack shit to the Bills offensive shot callers.
By the way, the only “GUY” needing owned in this backfield is Josh Allen. The fact is we know what this offense is; a big chunk, down field, pass happy offense. This offense will run through Josh Allen and his strong arm and lethal legs. As last year showed us, Josh Allen caps the touchdown upside Moss has as that short yardage/red zone back, which usually is profitable for fantasy. Devin Singletary is going to continue to be sprinkled in as the passing down back in this offense, unless Matt Breida takes it over, which will further cap Moss’s offensive snaps and fantasy production.
The fact that Moss’s current ADP has him coming of the board as RB37 in drafts just leaves the door open for heartbreak, as nothing has really changed in this backfield from 2020 to suggest any uptick in fantasy production this season. Do yourself a favor and pass on Moss and his current ADP and target a guy like Jamaal Williams later in drafts who likely will outscore Moss in fantasy this season.
