What went Right in 2020?
The biggest thing that went right for this Cardinals team in 2020 was the Kyler Murray to DeAndre Hopkins connection. This connection was really the only consistent thing happening for this offense week to week. Prior to Murray suffering an injury, this offense would consist of Murray running and then Murray targeting Hopkins down field. Murray was on absolute fire as a rusher, having scored 10 rushing touchdowns. However, after the injury suffered by Murray, that production fell off, as he was no longer able to run as easily, which in turn made this offense fall off down the stretch, as it became to predictable.
What Needs to Improve in 2021?
In my opinion, this offense needs to improve at running back. It is clear that Kenyan Drake is not suited to be that featured back, he is too inconsistent and the true definition of boom or bust. This is why Chase Edmonds was involved a lot, which cancelled he and Drake out as good weekly fantasy starters. The Cardinals need to draft a true three down back that will compliment Murray’s run ability as well as this high-powered passing attack. Luckily, for Arizona there is a top running back prospect that would fit seamlessly in this rushing attack, Clemson’s Travis Etienne. Next time I will dive into the Franchise Exit Report for the Las Vegas Raiders.
