What went Right in 2020?

The biggest thing that went right for this Dolphins team in 2020 was their defense. This unit under Head Coach Brian Flores ended the year as a top five unit in the NFL. In fact, it was this side of the ball that brought the Dolphins within one game of making the playoffs in 2020. This should be encouraging to Dolphin fans, as Flores proved to them that he is a coach they can get behind, because he is a true/legitimate good Head Coach. For fantasy, the one bright spot comes at the fact that this Dolphins team utilized one back for a games entirety. Both Gaskin and Ahmed saw time in the backfield, and both shined in that primary role. This is encouraging to see and with a likely featured back coming in 2021, whether it’s Aaron Jones via free agency, or Najee Harris via the draft, we know they will be heavily involved week to week, which as fantasy owners love in our players. If for some reason this team doesn’t make a change at RB this off season and we are left with Gaskin and Ahmed to choose from in drafts this summer, I am going to be targeting Gaskin as a RB3 with upside if he falls to the end of the 5th or 6th round.

What Needs to Improve in 2021?

I personally think we need to see better play out of Tua this season. As good as this defense was in 2020, when Tua was under center the team just seemed to stall. We can chalk that up to coming back from a serious hip injury, or to lack of experience with the Covid ravaged off-season. Regardless, it is no secret that fantasy weapons such as Parker and Gesicki performed better with FitzMagic under center. For this team, specifically the offense, we need better play out of Tua in 2021. In standard size 12 team redraft leagues I am not interested in Tua at all. If any team needed a Watson trade to happen, I believe it is Miami, as their Super Bowl window is finally opening up. Next time I will dive into the Franchise Exit Report for the Washington Football Team.
